    General Administration Department

    Maharashtra Zilla Parishad and Panchayat Committees came into existence from 1st May 1962 as per 1961. Janpadsabha existed prior to that. The General Administration under the Zilla Parishad is very important Department and the Deputy Chief Executive Officer (General) acts as the secretary in the general meetings and standing committee meetings of the Zilla Parishad. From the administrative point of view, subject matters in terms of establishment of the various employees are dealt through the department. Also, the transfer, promotion and appointment of employees in various departments are controlled and guided by this department. Similarly, works related to vehicle, Provident Fund, Audit, Pension, Departmental Enquiry, Confidential report, Budget and budgeting and inspection are carried out. Also deals with the salary and allowances and service related works of Hon’ble Chief Executive Officer, Additional Chief Executive Officer, Deputy Chief Executive Officer (General), Deputy Chief Executive Officer (Panchayat) and all Group Development Officers. Also, Structure and functioning of Zilla Parishad through this department on behalf of the Chief Executive Officer, the works of all departments are carried out. Similarly calling of Z. P. General Meeting and Standing Committee meeting and preparing the minutes of those meetings, formation of various subjects related committees, etc. related works are done by the Council Branch of the General Administration Department.

    The office establishment is as follows and the sanctioned posts consists of Assistant Administration Officer

    1. post, Junior Administrative Officer
    2. posts, Extension Officer (Statistics)

    Senior Assistant-14 posts, Junior Assistant-19, Stenographer-4, Driver-11 according to the number of vehicles, Naik-1, Attendant-28 posts.

    It needs to attend and business has to be transacted related with the meetings of Hon’ble Office Bearers and Officers under the Zilla Parishad which are called by the Zilla Parishad every month meeting of Standing Committee, similarly, General Meeting Called once in three months. The standing committee members are called for the standing committee meeting. The subjects placed before the Standing Committee and Zilla Parishad General Meeting are discussed in the meeting hall and various resolutions get passed. Also, under the Zilla Parishad there are Agriculture Committee, Social Welfare Committee, Health Committee, Education Committee, Finance Committee, Construction Committee, Animal Husbandry Committee, Women and Child Welfare Committee and Water Management and Sanitation Committee and the works of these committees have been entrusted to the Head of the concerned department. The subject committee meeting is convened once in a month.

    At the Panchayat Samiti level/Taluka level the Chairperson of the Panchayat Samiti holds a monthly meeting every month. At the taluka level, the Block Development Officer functions as the secretary in the monthly meetings of the Panchayat Samiti. The working of all the Block Development Officers is controlled by Hon’ble Chief Executive Officer through various Heads of Departments.
