Name of the program:- National Biogas and Manure Management Program 2024-25

There is a method of disposing of dead animals and plants in nature. In this method, the process of decomposition of dead bodies and plantsproduces organic manure and spreads over the surface of the soil and mixes with the soil, and the gas produced during this process mixes with the air. This decomposition process takes place in two ways.

    • In the absence of air
    • In the presence of air, bacteria help to carry out this process. Biogas is a combustible gas produced by the airless decomposition of organic matter. Biogas is mainly a mixture of two gases: methane and carbon dioxide. The amount of methane in it is 55 to 70% and the amount of carbon dioxide is 30 to 45%.

    Importance:-

    • Providing biofuels, especially in the face of rising inflation, it is useful as an alternative to LPG gas.
    • Providing organic fertilizers so that the use of chemical fertilizers can be reduced andagriculture can be done at a low cost while maintaining the balance of the environment.
    • Life time Energy: The use of biogas plants can be used for years.
    • Using biogas plants for domestic gas can prevent deforestation for fuel.
    • Connecting toilets to biogas plants at the village level helps in maintaining cleanliness.
    • The emission of gases such as carbon and methane, which are harmful to the environment and health, can be prevented and the environmental balance can be maintained.
    • With the help of new technology, electronic devices like lights, motors, etc. can be usedwith the help of biogas plants.
